Business-to-business is a concept that is only recently finding its place in Kenya and elsewhere in East Africa. It stems from the conviction that an important route to development is growth of the economy. We want to be part of the growth by contributing to it ourselves. The way we do that is to make business transactions easier by enabling buyers to find sellers in the same area through our website. We help businesses to find businesses.This is a unique website for Kenya, linking supply and demand to each other, linking businesses to businesses. This website wants to enable the business (or NGO) buyer to search our databases and quickly find a supplier for the goods they need. Doesn't matter what it is. We want to be the link between supply and demand.
Kisumu has been our launch town. Around 300 companies got their free basic listing and the number is still growing (not listed yet? register yourself, whether you are in Kisumu or elsewhere!). Site visitors and clicks are increasing, making us more interesting for advertisers every week. Indeed, some known companies are already advertising on the site. Now the B2B Kenya team is moving on to other towns and cities in the country.
How does it work?
This business-2-business site works by vendors requesting us to put their products in our databases, with a link to their listing, which has their contact data and location. This is town-specific: you are now on the Kenya site and other towns in Kenya have a similar site.Imagine a prospective buyer, looking for a product. He or she will search this site for that product and will get a list of the companies that are selling that product, together with their contact details and even their location. This way it is very easy for the client give a vendor a call, drop an email or even walk to the shop.
So, this site is setup by product categories and products, not by company names, as some other sites are. Here you don't need to know the name of the vendor to find their listing! This will save a lot of time on the part of the one searching.
